About Dustin

Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDanielAs Attorney General, Dustin is Arkansas's top law enforcement officer, top consumer advocate, and top lawyer for the state. With such diverse responsibilities, he and his staff work hard every day on a diverse set of issues—issues like investigating identity theft, upholding capital punishment convictions, safeguarding seniors from abuse, and educating parents on child safety, just to name a few.

2007 was an exciting first year for Dustin and the Attorney General's Office.

Working with the Governor and state legislature, a successful resolution to the long-running Lakeview school-financing litigation was achieved; 15 of Dustin's 16 proposed bills became state law; he was named co-chair of the National Association of Attorneys General Public Health and Safety Committee and was awarded an Aspen-Rodel Fellowship in Public Leadership, a program sponsored by the nationally renown Aspen Institute for outstanding young political leaders across the country.

Dustin has always been dedicated to public service, and prior to becoming Attorney General, he served as a uniformed patrol officer in his hometown of Jonesboro. He was also a Democratic Member of the Arkansas House of Representatives, representing District 75. While in the legislature, Dustin served as the Chairman of the Joint Select Committee on Health Insurance and Prescription Drugs and as a Member of the House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee.
