Smart Choices Better Chances Applicants for the "Smart Choices, Better Chances" volunteer instructor positions must meet the following criteria prior to being approved as an instructor.

  • Experience working with young people in some capacity.
  • Desire to work with students.
  • Strong (oral) communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule and dependable means of transportation.
  • Law enforcement or related experience would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Willingness to learn criminal law and related subjects.
  • Complete two day "Smart Choices, Better Chances" training course presented by the Attorney General's Office.
