A. Opinions of the Attorney General are advisory only and are not
binding in a court of law.
Q. Can the Attorney General issue an opinion to settle a dispute?
A. Attorney General Opinions are intended to address only questions
of law, not questions of fact.
Q. How long does it take to get a response to
an opinion request?
A. Requests pertaining to personnel records under A.C.A. § 25-19-105(c)(3)(B)
of the Freedom of Information Act must be answered within three
working days, approval of popular names and ballot titles for statewide
measures must be answered within ten working days, and the Department
attempts to answer all other opinion requests within thirty days
of receipt.
